Having wacked one of my props on the Thames this year, apart from getting the damaged blade repaired am thinking about getting a spare set, either new or S/H for swift swap in the event of any future mishaps.
The existing beasts are 3 blade 20" x 26P and appear to be made of marzipan or plastiscene.
Browsing the various propshop websites has merely added to my confusion.
Are my props bog standard, or some mega special hi-tech profile bits of technology with a price to match.
Corse ...if you happen to have a spare pair in your garage going cheep :)
Quotes so far range from £728 + VAT from well known UK company down to £350 + VAT from Michigan Wheel USA. ?

Shaft drive or stendrive ?
second hand props are a gamble taper angle, key width and length, clean or damaged and repaired its. Not neccesarily a bargain.
Two shafts a paired set work better, than a single prop replacement i.e. They are matched.

1.5 " Shafts
Curious that you can get a set of propellers imported from the States including shipping charges and import taxes cheaper than home produced units. All UK suppliers are asking roughly double the price.
Even curiouser with the pound on its knees.

Prop problem sorted courtesy of a forumite and forum For Sale section.
Still a mystery to me why anybody actually chooses to boat in the Solent . :)

Where to start ?
The roads and traffic a nightmare to get in and out.
Its absolutely jam packed with wall to wall boats.
Its expensive to moor and boat generally.
Most of the area is not exactly scenic ?
A very limited number of destinations nearbye.
Very weather dependant.

Will now crawl back into my bunker. :)

Hi
I'd imagine Michigan wheel will provide the best overall judgement and support for this. If they are the original 3 blade...I'd suggest changing to 4 blade of the same or diameter and going up 1" pitch for best all round performance. The previous owner of our P385 did this and we can't fault it. The engineer in me tells me it may be down on top end speed, but how often do these boats run flat out ? The P385 will still run close to 30knts with the Tamd61 engines fitted. I'd imagine the P35 might have the tamd40/41 standard ? Worth thinking about, but I can defo recommend speaking to Michigan wheel on the south coast....recently they even said I could return a prop I bought (for a power boat) if it wasn't well suited and they would exchange for another better suited. Can't ask for better than that.

Spoke to Michigan Props.
All UK suppliers wanted circa £700 + VAT for each prop.
Depending on how long you where prepared to wait Michigan would supply the same prop at £ 380 + VAT.
Price included shipping and taxes from USA. !!!!
