Hi Just wondering, has anyone attempted an impeller change on a Mermaid engine in Princess 33 , and if so have you any pointers. Looking at it the port engine pump is central to the boat and looks doable but difficult access, whilst the starboard one looks like I need to be the size of a toddler to get to it. Any knowledge much appreciated thx

I lie on top of engine it’s the only way

Hi Fishfoxey, spookily that is something I intend to do on my Princess 33's Mermaids in the not too distant future.
I agree, the port engine does look somewhat easier than the starboard.
I've just spent a pleasant period remaking the connections on the rev counter "drive" on the starboard engine and whilst laying on the engine noted the awkwardness of the impellor housing

I suspect this is where being 6ft 2 might be a disadvantage, although I guess it will give me some reach.

At a mere 6ft I should have no problem....... NOT.
We must try not to drop the faceplate bolts while we carry out the job, I'm famous for fumbling about in bilges, especially if the bolts are brass and the sea searcher magnet cannot help

I'm thinking of putting a sheet underneath as a catcher as I am a complete clutz so am bound to drop something.
