Princess 30 DS

A friend of mine had one for many happy years. The only complaint I ever heard him voice was that the transom used to get very sooty. Clearly from the exhausts and something to do with the shape of the boat and the airflow around it.

Same friend I suspect, but whilst fine at speed on the coast, apart from a bit of soot on the stern, it is appallingly smoky on the river. Makes the old Ford Sabre engines seem positively environmentally friendly!!
He aftercooled his and are now closer to 200hp, despite VP saying it wasn't possible. He is an engineer though.
Don't ask me about the technicalities!!

My little book states that the 30DS(Deck Saloon)was built from 1980 until 1989.Around 900 were produced.Engines ranged from about 80Hp up to the 150Hp twin option.some had the 145 hp petrol units and both shaft and outdrive versions were offered.A top speed of 25 knots was claimed for the Olesinki hull. The saloon roof slides right back with the exception of the rather rarer flybridge version.

Re: Smokey Engines are often smokey because...........

People do not change the air filters as regularly as they should! Its very important to change air filters and often they get overlooked! Badly performing injectors is another cause!
I have TAMD40B engines and they burn cleanly with almost no smoke at all when up to temperature, and they are 22 years of age!

solid boats, we considered one a few years back but opted for something a little newer. The flybridge ones on outdrives were a little lively I hear. The hull is a good one and was used by Rico I think it is to build a very similar looking boat after Princess stopped.
