Have rubbed the cabin door back to bare wood, veneer was peeling.
whats the foil for? under the veneer. The gas locker was the same.
Is it just so that the veneer has a sound base to adhere to?.

It could be for fire proofing and/or sound insulation. Marine Projects would be the ones to ask.
