Primordial Slime (involves a boat)

About three weeks ago when the sun was at its hottest I went foraging amongst the undergrowth and dragged into the light of day a small plastic pram dinghy, which I filled with water as a dachshund paddling pool. They had a few refreshing dips in it and then the fad faded as fads do.

I noticed after about a week that little things were swimming about in it, big heads and long tails moving in a twitchy kind of sideways gait. Now its beginning to turn green there is a second variety, these are little oval people who skid about the bottom of the boat with great industry, both species appear to come to the surface for something, probably air.

I was going to empty it and then I thought I'd wait and see what these things turned into. Probably the sons of some malarial mosquito imported as deck cargo, and one of them will leap from the water fully made and latch on to me as I peer into the water (in a kind of fatherly way), and do for me at a stroke.

It's amazing how quickly nature responds to an opportunity.

Such are the hobbies of the simple minded and boatless.

Think the first described are Mossies, used to get a creature of similar appearance in the garden water butt. Gawd knows what the others are .

We found a frog, stuck in Harrys water barrel yesterday, so we helped it out. Hope this helps.

Well, he'd been swimming round the edge for a week, gasping for air. Anyway I though he might get stuck in Harrys throat when he went for a drink. Have you not heard of the trouble with a frog in your throat!!

As I said in the other post i am at a training college, one of the delegates of the course went for a walk by the lake monday lunchtime and was bitten by some insect, today she's been admitted to hospital with blood poisoning, I'd ditch the contents of the pram if I were you.

Too late! its now the subject of an EU order which states that it is a site of special scientific interest and is protected by international law.

The british government are planning to build a road over it shortly.
