Priming lead keel

Just rubbed down the fin to tidy up the GF after a helmsman decided to take too close a look at the wildlife on the Beaulieu river bank! Just found out that the fins real cast lead (no GF encapsulation) and now need to prime the metal.

I believe that for the bare metal I should use an etch primer, followed by an underwater primer to be then finished off with antifoul. I have been told that the International etch primer has been discontinued, so is this first coat of etch primer necessary? What products have worked well for you?

Rubberised marine primer is usually good for lead, poss may be difficult to find, may have to call various manufacturers then order through a distributor?
Theoretically paint should not bond to lead.

Teal & Mackrill underwater primer is what you need, its called metachlorate primer or something close. My tin is at the boat so working from memory.

Pretty sure that regular AF primer will work for you - it does on my lead keel.

International say pre-prime with Etch Primer, followed by Primocon then the antifouling.
