I am about to replace the floorboards on a dinghy using marine ply. Final coat on the top will be non-slip deck paint as I have some left over from a previous job.

Suggestions please as to best treatment for the bare wood. I am reluctant to go down the road of a full on epoxy job as the dinghy is dry stored in a garage when not in use so the boards will only get a little damp when the boat is in use. So, is a good quality external grade wood primer or some form of wood treatment/varnish?

Any advice welcome.

C'mon do a proper job. get some epoxy on them especially the end grain.

What type of epoxy do you mean - epoxy resin or epoxy paint? One of my winter jobs will be to repaint our inflatable dinghy floorboards which are showing bare wood in places and I've been wondering what to use.
