Does anybody feel it would be appropriate to increase the maximum price of items for sale on the forum, perhaps up to £300-400, given the prices of all things maritime, or would it just open the door to abuse and scams? Personally I feel it is a benign and well targeted place to sell spare equipment.

Re: It\'s a revenue thing

Consider the costs of maintaining this interactive internet service, and now you propose a change that might deprive the printed magazine of paying classified ads.

Best leave well alone and keep your fingers crossed that the bean counters continue to be persuaded that our online chatter helps to set the agenda of future YM issues.

Re: It\'s a revenue thing

Fair point, but the forum does generate loyalty to the ybw brand and publications- I suspect the majority of advertising revenue comes from brokers, trade and private boat sellers with very little coming from sale of goods under the £400 bracket- you only have to look at the advertising to see the difference in quantity of advertising from respective parties. THe forum is complementary to the printed magazine, but does not reproduce it, therefore there is little conflict. I also suspect the forum will continue to add to it's ranks as people become more familiar with it.
