Im looking around for a fully fitted canopy for my MF 805 and have been quoted varying amounts ranging from £1500 upwards to £2800. I have no rails or anything needed to fit a canopy so it would be a complete new install. I like the look of the MF 815 on Ocean Covers in Penryn which looks well made and Ive seen a canopy made by them up close and it looked like a quality bit of kit.

Question is what sort of money should I be looking at for a fully fitted canopy?

Thanks

The £2800 is nearer the mark than £1500. There is huge variation in quality of materials and customisation of design, so you need to get more than one quote and look carefully at what is on offer. Most of the cost is labour, so specifying better materials is sensible. Best to have it made locally and go for somebody who will come to your boat, discuss the options with you and finally fit it.

I was quoted £2600 from one which included new rails, and £1300 from another using the existing rails and canopy as a template. I understand that getting the rails and canopy fit to be nice and tight is where the skill and cost really come in to it, but as this is the first replacement cannot really verify this.

I don't know this boat well, but had a look at pics on-line. On my previous boat, the canopy was larger and in 2 sections. I had a custom job done to meet my spec, and this was done superbly by Chris Harris of Harris Hoods. He did all the OE on Trusty Boats before they moved to Norfolk. First class job, quality material and finish. Cost £1500 3 years ago.

Thanks for all the replys.

The chap quoting £2800 does not seem keen at all to come up from Falmouth to Plymouth to visit the boat. He will but will charge for it. Shame as I thought for that price it would be worth a trip from Falmouth to Plymouth. I also like the look of his work and product. Umm - stuck now as his quote makes me think that the cheaper quotes will be an inferior product.
Anybody recommend someone in Plymouth?
