BH is particularly noted for its very quiet nights - little wind, no swell and a quiet location anyway - certainly the best nights I've spent on the boat.

Certainly is a lovely place to visit, but it has to be the pile moorings up river from the marina for me.

I used to love my trots mooring on the Hamble which I had for around 15 years. If they were available around here up a river I would go for them in preference to a marina any time.. I quite liked driving down from London to Warshash SC. Launching the dinghy, attaching the outboard and motoring up the river for 20 minutes or so. getting aboard, sorting the dinghy out then slipping out bound for .... well where ever. I even liked doing it all again in reverse order... Even when I was tired... There is something so soulless about a marina. A sort of waterside caravan park... 2nd homes in row after row - that seldom see the open sea.... well that's how it appears to me... but that's my fate at the moment!
