Preveza versus Messolonghi ashore for the Winter?

We've left LP ashore at Ionian Marine over the summer, which is fine, but are undecided about the coming winter. Any views on the merits of Preveza v Messolonghi ashore appreciated?
We'll be flying from Athens this autumn & probably return that way in the spring.

I'm at Messolonghi and like it. Really if your just looking for land storage its mainly a price issue. The bus from Messo takes 3.5 hours to Athens so you save a few hours.

I've never been to Preveza so can't compare.

We like Ionion Marine, despite the high air fare cost. Have you been to Messo? We were in Messo office this year when a German couple were asking themselves the same question - here or Preveza for the winter? Then they got a quote from the girl at the desk that shocked them. The German lady started moaning about the state of the toilets, access to town, security and so on so I told her the virtues of Ionion Marine and they decided to hire a car and drive across there for a look. Then they found out the price of car hire is 60E per day in Messo and that didn't improve their mood. They left next day by sea. Interestingly the girl at the desk agreed that Preveza was a better place to spend the winter, but perhaps she just wanted to get rid of them?

Communication from Messolonghi is much better and, from my experience, prices are lower. The town is superior and you can get there at any time. Preveza probably offers more technical services, but, if living on the boat, rather more sophisticated shoreside facilities are to be found in Messolonghi.

I've just returned from summer sailing in the Ionian sea (at the moment I am in Lastovo/Croatia and my "home port" is island Krk in Croatia).
One of my tasks this summer was also to check the prices in the Ionian marinas (not in Gouvia and Lefkada since they are crazy with prices).
The reason is that here in Croatia I pay 5100 eur for a yearly contract (43' sailing boat, incl. VAT, always in the water, no lifting out in the price).

I was in the Messolonghi, Ionian and Cleopatra marina offices and I got the offers.
1.) Messolonghi is the cheapest (if I compare it to my crazy Croatian marina it is 52% cheaper!)
2.) Marina Cleopatra in Preveza is the most expensive one (but also very organized etc... if you need that)
3.) Ionion marina in Preveza is my favorite. Price is ok and also they have the "normal" lift (Aktion does not have it).

There was much written in this forum about all the marinas in the Ionion but I see the decision as a mixture of price and how easy it is to reach it.

I would go for Preveza, that is Ionion marina.
Messolongi marina looks like ****... I read that there is new owner or CEO or whatever but first thing they could do is to tidy the place a little bit and put someone at the gates (but first fix the gates). My boat is quite good equipped I do not want to leave it there...
And also Messolongi cannot compare to Preveza on my opinion when we are talking about the "city".

I think you'll find Mata is a local girl, all the family in Mesologgi; it's more likely you're thinking of Spirodoula, who lives in Agrinio and who has her family in Vonitsa.
