We plan to leave Lazy Pelican in Preveza for July/ Aug.
Can anyone suggest the best source of flights home direct from Preveza, or is it better to go via Athens / Corfu?

Thanks,
John

Athens is a good plan but the coach trip takes 5 hours from Lefkas and then you need to get the X93 to the airport, about another 40 minutes. Coach price to Athens last time I booked was E33 if memory serves. Check out one way car hire to Ignometsisa -2 hours-(about E80 with Europacar), ferry to Corfu (E peanuts) and then Easyjet to the UK. We've done both and personally I found the trip via Corfu to be more entertaining. Equally if you've not seen Athens get the early bus (07.00 ish I believe) and do some sightseeing. Aegean Air was the best carrier we found from Athens to Heathrow competive price and you get real hot food!

Peruse the Thomson site for flights out of Preveza.

The yard at Ionian usually has 'last minute' offers up for a couple of tickets out of Preveza available through the local Levkas travel agents.

If you want to book 4 or 5 months in advance you will a get fleeced.

If all else fails then fall back on the Corfu / Athens options.

+1 for the Corfu route. Whilst the coach to Athens and then bus to airport works, it's a long old day and not much to look at as you go. Seem to recall that there is a bus link Preveza to Igonoumitsa as well as the car hire link. Nice to see the route into Corfu from a ferry as opposed to dodging:rolleyes: one.....

There are two travel agents in Nidri, the one immediately adjacent to the Neilsen pontoon/hotel can usually arrange a couple of seats back to UK from Preveza at good prices. Gatwick is usually easier than Manchester. The other agent, further up the main street, doesn't have as good access to Neilsen flights but they seemed pretty good also.

I met many people last year who could not get last minute flights back from Preveza, and ended up either going to Corfu or Athens. If you want Preveza flights book early for the best prices (we booked in November), we have found that Thomas Cooke are cheaper than the other charter airlines for single flights. Easyjet are far cheaper from Corfu, the difference can easily pay for a taxi to Igonoumitsa.
