That is interesting Vyv. Obviously the bridge length could change by a not inconsiderable amount!!

There was a very informative programme on TV about it, good despite being presented by Richard Hammond. The piers stand on gravel beds, as you say some clever expansion joints were used and many other features. Earthquakes were not the only problem, as this is a very windy place at times, so the dynamics of the road section needed special attention.

Funny how sometimes it can be flat calm up to the bridge and as soon as you traverse, a hooley blows up. Our next traverse will be in a week of so's time.

Yes, it's incredible and difficult to understand. We have flown the spinnaker from Messalonghi and debated trying to get through under it. Fortunately we didn't as we had 20 knots on the nose immediately we passed it.
