A fairly strong earth tremor was felt here about 1430 today,that shook the boats in the water.
Does make you wonder about the sense of having built the undersea tunnel here from Preveza to Aktion.

Frightening to be in a tunnel in an earthquake, especially when you have 7 days notice. I would say that is down right careless.

That is interesting Vyv. Obviously the bridge length could change by a not inconsiderable amount!!

There was a very informative programme on TV about it, good despite being presented by Richard Hammond. The piers stand on gravel beds, as you say some clever expansion joints were used and many other features. Earthquakes were not the only problem, as this is a very windy place at times, so the dynamics of the road section needed special attention.

Funny how sometimes it can be flat calm up to the bridge and as soon as you traverse, a hooley blows up. Our next traverse will be in a week of so's time.

Yes, it's incredible and difficult to understand. We have flown the spinnaker from Messalonghi and debated trying to get through under it. Fortunately we didn't as we had 20 knots on the nose immediately we passed it.

Whoops sorry, just realised the 7 days notice bit, I was being a bit of a prophet, just looked at wrong week on calendar.

Always a head-wind and always (apparently) an adverse current through there. I'm sure you'll survive though ;-)

On the way to Preveza to day 15 sept , can anyone tell us for sure if the earth tremor is going to happen to morrow . in which case we just won't stop and keep going to Lefkas .

Ask any sailing geologist and he'll tell you the biggest cause of tremors in Preveza is someone being presented with a bill at Cleopatra yard. Some of them are right off the Rictus scale.
