Prestige 38s, Sealine SC35 or Targa 38

I am assuming the Sealine has 260’s rather than your stated 230’s

In that case I would go Sealine, fairline, prestige in that order.

Just under two years ago we were looking for a similar boat. My top tips are:

1. If you have a wife, partner, significant other - make sure they like the boats that you will be taking them to look at. Listen to what they have to say and watch out for brokers who treat women accompanying a man as 'the little lady'. This cost two brokers potential sales as my wife took an immediate dislike to them and would not buy a boat from them.

2. Does your potential berth have any restrictions that you must accommodate? We have to be below 12.00m hard. No ifs, no buts 12m is the max for our 12m berth.

3. Does the boat have everything you want? No point buying something without aircon if you really want aircon. It's an expensive retrofit.

4. How easy will the boat be to live on. You will spend 99% of your time not underway so how comfortable will you be. You have already mentioned showers - this ruled the Prestige 38S out for us.

5. Can you view a couple of the potential choices in the same day so you can do a like for like comparison?

6. The forum is great for help, but not for asking about 'what boat for me' everyone has a favorite and people can be a tad parochial at times!

Good luck.

I’ve owned a Sealine and now a Prestige (42S). The build quality is comparable I’d say. The T38 is tiny inside compared to the SC35 and 38S. I like the cockpit of the 38S especially the rear seating area. This sits above the garage (which neither of the other two have) meaning you don’t get that fine spray coming back when you’re are at cruising speed that I’ve noticed on other boats - it’s a lovely place for guests to sit and watch the world/ocean go by. Add in the hard top and the lovely lines I’d take the 38S out of the three.
