Unfortunately, the boat we are buying does not have the infill for the guest cabin. Does anyone know where we could buy one from or will I have to have it made up?

Have had several made up over the years.
To keep the cost sensible stay away from marine upholsterers in the Solent or any other boating golden triangle :) who simply charge what the limited market will bear.
Very helpful if you have a large population of caravan sites near you, if so,there will almost certainly be an outfit making a living refurbing caravan interiors.
They have access to all the same coverings the boat guys use but tend to charge considerably less for materials and labour.
Take along a cushion or something small and just ask them to match it.
We normally not bother with any fancy multi coloured covers or nifty piping because the infill would be covered most of the time with sheets or hidden away when not used.
Depending on size £150 (ish) gets a basic infill cushion.
All stuff has to meet EU fire regulations and will have label sewn in stating the fact.

Just on a practical note is this something you want as it is missing or something you actually want to use ?

I have always steered away from them as they have to be stored.

Hi Chantel,

I don't have one for my P36 but would have found it useful on the odd occasion when friends stay over rather than putting them in two singles.

As far as I can see you just need an infill piece of wood and some foam on top with similar resistance to the mattresses that you have. As Oldgit says, you'll only use it when making the bed up so it is covered.

If taking this simplistic approach, I'd have the wooden infill and foam made in to two pieces as the port side bed has huge storage underneath and if the infill was in sections your could probably stow it when not in use.

I'd be interested to know how you get on......

Cheers,

Joe

Thanks for all the tips. I had thought of getting Mr Shan to make it but I'd still be waiting for it in 10 years time.... he keeps telling me that if I add one more thing to his list, another thing will fall off the list... Easier to just pay for it to be done.

We are in South Wales, loads of camp sites abound so I should be able to find a caravan refurbishment company to do it - I was just kind of hoping Jeanneau did it as an 'off the shelf' item.

To answer the question re: whether the infill is missing - I get the impression, it was an optional extra, which was clearly not taken on the P36 we are buying. We have friends demanding weekends with us often enough to warrant the infill. Whilst, I don't want them to get too comfortable, some of them are cranky enough for me to want to do the infill, to avoid a weekend of grumbling and muttering.:o Anything for an easy life!

Try Mark Llewellyn, he lives just by the converted church in Neyland high street. He does all the upholstery for the Dale Nelsons and did all our interior fitout. 07771 965733. Alternatively Simon at Cleddau Upholstery 07721 935489

+1. There was one made from marine ply on our boat and removing it was one of my first jobs (it's now in m garage). I actually prefer having the aft cabin made up as two singles as it means you can sit on the bed to get dressed.

Thank you - I will do.
