Prestige 32 windlass

I dropped the hook on Sunday and then decided to move 100 meters further along. Then the windlass decided not to work. I could hear a solenoid clicking somewhere, when operating the switch, but then that stopped too.

I guess that there must be a reset button somewhere, but the manual is next to useless. I plan to escape work tomorrow, go down to the boat and have a look. The trouble is that I can't operate the switch and locate the solenoid at the same time.

Does anybody know where the reset button is, if it even has one, or the solenoid?

don't know your boat ,but if you look under the windlass and follow the cables you will find it I would think it will be under the front berth

All the the electric breakers are in the mid cabin, go to the foot of the bed and remove the panel, u will then have access to all the breakers ect, u are in effect under the steps down to galley.

I know that the bow thruster battery is in there and hopefully a reset switch too, thanks.

Yes that's the little bugger and I found it at lunchtime today. I meant to take a picture of it but got sidetracked, so thanks for the pic!

I tried the windlass several times and even held it on when the anchor was fully in and the trip didn't pop, so why it did on Sunday, who knows?

After dropping it ( working the motor ) the 1st time .Then a short temp rest ,the heat has soaked up into the housing from the windings thus acting like a mini heat store .
2nd time cos the thing has warmed up or not cooled down ,the extra heat on top of the allready stored heat tripped it .
If it becomes a repetitive nuisance ,fit a heatsink or buy a bigger windlass who,s motor will not slow as much building up heat from the increased resistance of rotation cos it's not up the job .

You may well be right with heat soak and it hadn't thought of that. The windlass motor case is heavily corroded and it is 15 years old now, so past its best.

If it does play up again, at least I now know where the trip is!
