The water in our system is taking up to a minute to come through the taps and is gradually getting slower. We would appreciate any advice. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
voltage is low
you have an air leak in the system aowing it to either drain back to the tank or into the bilge (depending where the leak is)
you have a defective pump
water tank is nearly empty.
1. If the pump runs most of the time a tap is on, check the pressure in the accumulator - it should be about 0.8 bar. If low pump it up
2. It could be a blocked pump inlet filter - they should be checked and cleaned annually
3. It could be the diaphragm needs changing - lots of action from the pump, but no water.
4. If the inlet pipe from the tank is flexible, this may have kinked or collapsed cutting off the flow.
5. Dirty contacts inside the fuseholder could reduce current flowing to the pump.
6. The pressure switch sticking - unfortunately on many pumps this is not replaceable so means a new pump unit.
7. There is an air leak on the inlet side of the pump allowing it to cavitate.
calcification? disconnect the pipe from the pump to the taps and operate the pump if dribble problem with pump or on pipes to pump. if OK problem at taps end, start from there, take pipe off tank stick in busket of water and try pump again if ok problem in tank and so on. basically a case of gradual elimination of OK until you find the problem.
Some freinds had exactly that problem, each time it was a crack in the accumalator
They finaly bought a non boat one and the probles over, that was more than 10years ago and its still going strong, their liveaboards down in Cogolin
On my old Hillyard i had a piston pump.never a problem unlike a rotary type.
We have just had the same problem ... low pressure in the accumulator. Before pumping up switch the electric pump off, turn the taps on to run a little water, turn taps off and then pump up the accumulator ... use a bicycle pump. Ours works fine now.
