The free nights to stay at other Premier marinas has been useful and now that its a bit more flexible (maybe) hopefully more so.

Then today I got the general circulation email from Premier which in addition to explaining the adiministration of the scheme says,

"To ensure a successful visit and to avoid disappointment, especially in the busy summer months, we require that you call your destination marina inside 30 days of the date you wish to visit so that the marina can confirm that they will have a berth for you. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your home marina"

I guess it says "inside 30 days", which could be taken to mean the day before but I suspect thats not what they really mean. As if we plan 30 days ahead!. The day before is good for me with our weather!!

Based on past experience they tend to be flexible and we have had a lot of use out of it.

I think that just sounds like they would like a call the day before you come along... I think by saying within 30 days they specifically mean they do not want to be bothered with people saying have you got a berth in 3 months time for 1 night, they just want to avoid folks getting somewhere and them not having room and then people getting upset and giving the berthing masters a hard time because they are "premier" berth holders...!

When I paid for my first season with Premier last week (I'm heading to Swanwick) they told me small marinas like Falmouth are best booked early as its on it's own far west, as it's small... But they definitely gave me the impression anywhere else could probably accommodate on demand...

We've used it a fair bit. We're currently at Swanwick and use it for trips to Portsmouth and Brighton. Has always been fine booked a few days ahead and the staff are friendly.

Do people really cruise east from Swanwick?
I thought they only came west from such places?

Such east-phobia :-) It doesn't get shallow till well past Eastbourne.

We went in the olden days when Jimmy le Builder was there... no reason to go anymore. Oh well, I guess I'll have to get used to it.

We also did a trip last year (Fecamp, Honfleur, Deauville, St Vaast) so a crossing from Brighton made sense and as we like the place we made Brighton part of the holiday.

I've never risked going further east tho, into the "here be dragons" territory.

For single nights I usually call up on the VHF. I couldnt possibly know 30 days ahead!

I hope they mean its for the longer term berting, where they now let you use up to 42 free nights at the other marinas in the group. Fair enough if you want a long stay, but the for one night I expect to be able to get a berth on arrival most of the time.

i always ring up the day before or a few hours before arrival just to make sure they have space. chi are always good and issue pontoon number etc... over the phone saves waiting and checking in on free flow.
