Enjoyed Sitesurfer's video from yesterdays sail on Chi Harbour.
I was out from Poole having a bit of fun yesterday too.
Not really a film as such; just a series of clips clagged together with too much wind noise and inaudible commentary; but about SAILING unlike some of the more rather ill humoured threads recently.
Come on everyone; lighten up; its Christmas and sailing's supposed to be fun!

I am really enjoying my winter sailing this year

marvelously mild and plenty of wind,

I am currently on the Fal where you can sail in flat water when the wind is blowing at 40 miles an hour. The light has been generally a bit grey - but when the sun does peep out it is a joyful place.

One of the great things is that it is the first time I have ever been able to watch a fleet of sailing boats that are still working. Those blokes work so hard. They are out in all weathers dredging for native oysters

The anchorages are empty, there are empty mooring boys all over the place to pick up. The downside is that the nights are bloomin long at this time of year - but I am doing a lot of reading and listening to music

Enjoyed that, I have to say that videos of people sailing in the UK, albeit with crappy weather and no exposed skin are just what the inexperienced sailor needs.

Real people sailing real boats, not everyone has a 40 foot beauty.

Phil,

thanks for putting those vids up, thoroughly enjoyed them; great to see someone sailing in a similar way and in familiar places.

Your T4 seems very much in the JOG / 1970's cruiser / racer tradition and looks like she goes well; loved the dolphins.

Dylan,

well done for inspiring so many people.

One of the very best moments of my life - let alone sailing - was when a chum blagged me a crew spot on a Falmouth Working Boat in summer racing; going aboard and looking up at that rig...

Hard enough sailors to drive the boats under and have diver chums recover them, but never any shouting or squabbles at the mark, just cheering each other - literally.

' Pass me a pasty and a beer and put up another jib ! '

' You'll be done for sure skipper with a third jib ! '

' Just pass 'em along and put the sail up '.

Glad you liked them. Spot on about the boat: needs a bit of wind to get her going, but with 50% ballast ratio and form stability as well she's tremendously stiff and powerful for her size.
The dolphins were a bit of " moment ". As an illustration of the capriciousness of wild things a couple of dolphins popped up to look at me and my Pirate later in the summer and just buggered off!! So not Mr Dolphin Whisperer I'm afraid
