Praising the Monitor

I have just completed a round trip to Madeira in rather windy and bumpy conditions.For the first time in my life I used a windvane,a Monitor.I just couldn't believe how well it performs.In over 900 miles I didn't touch the tiller and only needed to ocasionally adjust the windvane to correct the course.It was my driest sail ever as we could stay below reading or sleeping where it was nice and relatively confortable .It made things infinitely more pleasant for everybody.Gone are the days where one had to sit outside helming, wet and tired.
It's an expensive piece of kit but worth every penny.
