For my sins, I work on a building site. My tools are supplied by my boss who, although a Makita man himself, set me up with a load of Erbauer cordless tools. Namely, an impact driver, drill, grinder and reciprocating saw. Anyone who has worked on a building site will tell you there is no tougher environment for electrical equipment, especially with stuff that is frequently lent to other hairy-asked builders who see the ‘cheap’ brand name and decide to show it no mercy. Well, two years on their all going strong. They’re used pretty much every work day. Batteries still holding a good charge. I do look after tools, the people I lend these to do not!

I’ve always followed the ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ maxim, but these tools continue to surprise me.

My Erbauer electric drill (corded) has packed up. Less than 2 years old. Bought another one because they are cheap and once my present project is finished may not be used for months.
A bathroom fitter recently doing my house said "I notice you only buy cheap tools" I replied "If I was charging £200 a day like you I would only buy the best tools"
