With 435 HP taken out of that DD block, she will not be highly stressed... if this is a 4 valve per cylinder block, then they can be compared with the later Gray Marine marinised blocks where they took out 485 HP out of a straight six 71 series block... that equates to around 80 Hp per cylinder.... in a V8 guise, that equates to 640 Hp per engine.... and then you have the option of putting on twin turbochargers if you really want to fly (and burn some serious amount of fuel)....... Keep them at the current rating and they will go on forever !!

Do you know, for a moment I thought I just read that someone had purchased a 53’ Powles that needs a little fettling having never seen her............Welcome to the forum !! I’m sure she will look fantastic if you bring her back to her former glory.
Thank you.

There is a facebook page now set up. Sonnet. A Powles 53 Motoryacht.

Unfortunately she is stuck in port due to Covid restrictions in Greece. It is the delivery port, not the one near us so I haven't been able to do a thing to her yet!

Twin turbos with intercoolers. It will be a while before they roar again due to Covid restrictions. But roar they will!

Nine months later and Sonnet is now one (big) step closer to being refitted.
She is being hauled out this week and will be out for a year in a small boatyard in Greece.

All updates and progress will be recorded on the Facebook page mentioned earlier in this thread.

We have a fabulous amount of paperwork with her, but are missing a set of lines drawings.

Would anyone here know where we might find a set?

Thank you.

that was v.brave of you with this poor small fishing boat pulling a 53mobo across Saronicos bay, lucky it was flat calm!
enjoy the refit.
cheers

V.
