Hi, can anyone give me any help on this. The boat is a Sessa 35 with VP D4.260's, the power steering runs off the stb engine and has what I will call a helm pump which will pump oil around the system to turn the out drives in the event of std engine failure albeit a bit notchy. However we also have an electric driven pump in the system which I can find no info on, I can only assume its as an auxiliary but not sure what as we have the helm pump. Any suggestions please?

Sounds weird, unless it’s auto pilot arrangement, as mentioned. Is it definitely not your trim tabs or trim system ?

Yes someone suggested its to do with the auto pilot, for sure the tabs have their own pump and reservoir for each side.

where is the electric component situated exactly ?
Its right at the back of the engine bay on a bracket on the transom, it has two high press pipe that T in to the pipes that supply the steering rams and one low pressure pipe that returns to a reservoir
