Does anyone out there know of the best way to acquire one. Is it best to make one up, or buy ready made? Any recommendations for suppliers would be most welcome. Many thanks.

Look in your local caravan shop, half the price compared to most swindleries. Caravan shops also sell a plastic reel to enable you to wind it up tidily.

Definitely make your own. I recently made up a long cable to get power from the nearest shed to my layup site. It's 35m so I bought heavy (2.5sqmm) arctic cable from a supplier on ebay, £40 delivered and the plug and socket from MachineMart or B&Q for a couple of £ each. Cheaper by at least half than buying a ready made one. Just make sure the polarity is correct when connecting the fittings; if unsure get someone who definitely knows what they are doing to help you.

Thanks for that advice. The problem I have is that the plug in to the yacht socket is one that pushes in and then a collar is screwed on to secure it. Any ideas where to get one of these?

Yes I reckon Marinco is the one. Had to sit down when I saw the price though. Seems a bit on the high side even by marine standards.
Thanks

Argos want £34.79 for a caravan connection lead. My local caravan shop has them, 25 metres long, for less than £25! Caravan leads are fine for boat use. My boat has the type of connector that has a locking ring, but the standard blue socket on the caravan lead fits it.
