Hello All,

Been a long while since ive been on here and had to re register for some reason ah well !

Off to Brittany in June and thinking of taking out power boat 17' V8 jet boat just wondered if anyone has any experience of power boating here.

Staying NE of Vannes boat launches and retrieves easily so as longs as there's a slip I'm happy, would love to visit some harbor villages, spot of lunch drinks etc..

Will get charts but are there any boaty related books available

help appreciated

hi
Had several great holidays there with 22ft centre console.Always took mooring in Port De Crousty large marina lots of shops bars and eateries. There is a slipway there. You can book a berf of just use the visitors moorings area which get busy and you may get rafted against. Visitors moorings they come along early in morning to collect dues or you can pay in the office nearby.
Port De Crousty is just east of the Morbihan entrance so if the wind was blowing we would go into the Morbihan beautiful islands to visit with moorings or at anchor lots of waterways to explore.
With good forecast we would go offshore 8 miles to the Islands Houat and Hoedic beautiful beaches. Then another 7 miles to Belle Isle if your boat is capable there are some big swells further out.
Google Earth should give you a good insight
Morbihan Island Arz has many bars and eateries within the very pretty town, anchor in bay to east of town
Ile De Moines visitors pontoon and moorings with service launch to edge of village again many bars eateries which fill up very quickly at lunchtime. Good fun to sit on point of island watching all the boats spilling through the race can be chaotic!

Staying NE of Vannes

I lived NE of Vannes for 6 years. I bought a Power Boat from a boat dealer in St Malo. They said that to use a Power Boat in France I had to have a "Certificate du Bateau" I realised that if I took one in France I would fail (the questions would have been in French) so I popped over to Jersey, did a RYA Power Boat 2, which then allowed me to have an International Certificate of Competency
So the first time I came to launch the boat I went into the Captinairy at Arzal to ask about the slipway and the first question was "Have you got a boat certificate"
Sorry about the spelling)

I was last there with boat 2004
Stopped by gendarmes out at one of the islands (Hoate) who ask for ssr and icc on the only day we did not have docs onboard.
I offered to take them into office next day but they quickly lost interest as lunch time, They dropped their anchor got in an inflatable and went ashore saw them a little later in a restaurant. I guess if it was not lunchtime they would have not been so lenient with us!
