I don't know if it related but I saw a motorboat towing an upturned yellow speedboat back towards Harwich quay. Didn't think that much of it at the time.
Any death is very sad and one like this is devastating to the family and to his sport.
We were out by Pye End watching the racing.
The sea state had quickly become quite a bit rougher just after that race had started.
There was a call from the safety boat down at the Pennyhole turn that there was a problem.
The organisers sent some more boats down there as quickly as possible.
I believe that all that could be done for the chap was done.
I do have comments to make on the organisation of the event but will save that for another time.
Very sad indeed, my heartfelt sympathies to all concerned. I also have my own thoughts on the organisation of the event having passed through on our way to Ipswich for the weekend.
