Potentially Catastrophic Canal Du Midi bid

[ QUOTE ]
Why not do the CEVNI anyway, I bought the book, read it the day before the test, test took about 30 minutes and that was that.

Looks as though you will be toll free anyway.

I will do, but whenever I go to France I dot the i's and cross all the t's as they are a bureaucratic nightmare if your opinion differs from Mr Gendarme's.

Having crossed France on the Gumball Rally in 2004, I know what it is like to be arrested.....several times!

Glad you were inspired by the three nutters in a boat article. (Memo to self , send disclaimer to Major's insurance company)
Must talk to you about the french bike trip. SWMBO is more keen to do another cycling holiday than she is to "do" the Caledonian canal.

No idea about the CEVNI but good luck with the trip.

Yes, thanks for the magazine you left under my tender.

As to the cycling, simple really, I convince the PD harbour master to sell me his two folding lightweight bikes for a song, threw them into the back of the car and pointed the nose South to the Loire. When we found a nice stretch we loaded up with wine, bread and cheese and set off along the bank.

Most important piece of kit was my Waco portable freezer which provided us with ice packs every day for the clip on cool bags on the handle bars.

In the afternoon we rode back to the car.

We went to Sancerre and tried to follow the Canal Lateral A La Loire at the base of the hill, but the tow path just stopped in the middle of nowhere. Even before then, using a tender instead of a bicycle would have been easier.

Ended up in Sancerre going around the excellent wine exhibition.
