Potential Tragedy near Oxford

sad news my lads was swimming not far from Byrons manor yesterday, had a floatation vest on. still here today

Few lads kept jumping off wallingford bridge yesterday. All survived one did jump a bit close to an oncoming narrowboat.

River re-opened at 6pm Sunday evening. Was passing through today, EA launch was zigzagging across the river checking the bed with it's sonar. Same EA inspector that was at Bray on Saturday all day.

I know that boys will be boys, but there use to be plenty of public warnings on the dangers, but not anymore. A campaign of awareness on social media would cost a lot less than it did in the days of TV and cinema ads.
 
If he was the son of a 'celebrity' or an aristo, they would have been in like a shot.:(

Evince a few years back, we had a problem with Yobbos and speedboats on this stretch. Michael Caine rang the Old Bill and within minutes two cars arrived and a helicopter was overhead. The following day I rang same problem same stretch. . . two days later a Special on a bike turned up.
