Hi , I am new to the forums and have received conflicting info from several dealers . I have a day boat , Bayliner 215 and I'm looking to purchase a newer larger boat Zaffiro 34 . The one im looking at has air con but no generator . I will be using the boat in and around the Greek Islands , is the generator a requirement , beneficial or should I be looking at installing one ?? . Many thanks in advance .

Many thanks . There seems to be a huge choice of boats but I have settled on the Zaffiro 34 , just about getting the right one ... Once again many thanks

A dealer selling a boat without a generator will tell you you don't need one and vice versa?

Ditto aircon?

I'd have both if I had my time in the Med again.

Thanks Richard , can you get by on air con, electrics etc with batteries ? I suppose you just have to change the batteries like a car ... Would you say it was a drawback not having a Jenny , but still with air con ?

Reverse Cycle Aircon will need 240v, so will not work off batteries alone. Without doubt, a generator would be a huge plus or you will only be able to use it when plugged into shorepower

Depends if you're going to be stopping off at one of the many small Greek ports dotted around the islands where there's no shore power usually so could get uncomfortably hot in summer. If your'e sticking to the main marina's then shore power is quite common and you'll be able to run the aircon from that.

Thank you , all good info . I'm used to the small craft but when you add cabins etc you have a lot more to consider . I will research the cost of adding a generator .. I live in Cyprus and have a berth with power / water , but will travel up the Turkish cost and into the Greek Islands in the summer . If I left it as it was I would be hoping that each Marina had power to plug into ...
