Potential cheap lightweight Tender outboard 4HP

I followed BoilerDan's journey with the 2 stroke Hankai and although he is very enthusiastic confesses that nothing lasts long. His clutch gave in and this is a common issue. I guess you get what you pay for but he admits if you dont like weekend tinkering in the garage this is not the motor for you. It was a very balanced series but even his enthusiasm waned after 1 season use.

also 1.6 actual hp and not 3.6. I would not use this engine in the Menai. You cant beat the current.

We are on the canal system here in Cheshire. On the odd day that we take the tender in the car to the marina for a pootle about, something this light is ideal.

Our 5hp is great for normal [sea] tender ops, just looking for a lighter 2stroker @ 5hp. (y)

I dont think you are allowed 2 stroke on the canal system. I may be wrong in that but I'd check before you buy.

Never knew that. Better write 4 stroke on current 2 stroke in permanent marker.

By the looks of some of the canal boats chimneys, a 2 stroke seems environmentally friendly!

Running yours out of water is not good

I know but it is a little air cooled strimmer on a stick and I did most of the running in in a tub of water. I am sere it will be ok. Remember this does not have a water pump and the bottom end is full of gear lube
