To be honest most groups of people have some who are great to get pissed with and some you would not want to be seen dead with.

Not aimed directly at you, but here in many cases lies the crux of the matter, parties not wanting to talk, or I'm not having smelly fishermen in my club sort of attitude. It does make for constructive talk.

BOTH parties need to discuss how they operate - rather than s stand off. How many members of Royal XXXXX yacyt club would meet the fishermen on the grounds that they are not worthy, and how many members of Royal YYYYYY yacht club go to the fishermans pub for the meet?

Stop being pig headed and talk to each other. FFS, your supposed to be intelligent, responsible adults! It really isn't that difficult.

The local creel man is already a well respected member of our boat club.

Numpties like that hardly improve ones' opinion of fishermen, I presume we 'shouldn't be' in Portland inshore passage or on the bee line between Chichester entrance and the Dolphin gap in the barrier, as some clown lays pots there ( dark blue plastic cans ).

Just done Chichester to Poole and back this weekend. Between Chichester and the gap in the barrier, all of the markers were just old dark blue or black plastic cans. Between Hurst and Poole, most of the markers were orange balls, possibly 5 percent had flags. The worst was what looked like the ballcock from a toilet - black and about six inches in diameter.

Apart from the few with flags, none of the markers were lit or even had anything reflective on them.

I'd hate to try either passage at night, it would be simply too dangerous.

Had a recent trip from Hull to Scarborough, from Spurn to Flamborough we stayed well off the coast and encountered surprisingly few buoys, about 50% of them were just black the others either orange or white. From Flamborough to Scarborough most had flags marking them. On the return leg the Flamborough to Spurn ones were hardest to see against the sunlight and being dragged under the surface by a strong ebb tide. would really not want to be out there on a night passage...
