Post-lockdown diesel bugs

On this my fourth day sailing since the lockdown, the motor started surging a little, which is symptomatic of a mild case of the dreaded diesel bug in the Perkins.

Fortunately my tank was fairly low at the time of the lockdown so there cannot be a huge amount to deal with...

Anyway, just a reminder to all to give your tanks a dose of bug killer at the earliest opportunity.

Have you checked your primary diesel filter? That's the best determinant.

I'm pleased to say I chucked a strong dose of marine16 in my tanks on March 20th in anticipation of a lengthy period of boatlessness, also gave stern glands an extra nip.

I had a bug in the Perkins once, but antibiotics cleared it up.
