I was following another thread which I now can’t find.

Whilst I accept that one may now be able to enter France in all sorts of places (and I have seen the port specific Breton and Norman forms), is there not still an issue with obtaining passport stamps in order to verify number of days one has been in the Schengen area with currently only 90 in any 180 permitted?

On the other thread, a poster had recently been told by email from the marina at Boulogne sur Mer that he would have to go to Calais for a passport stamp.

I was already planning to arrive at Calais as first port of call and received this message when I enquired.

Good Afternoon,

For the marina of calais, you just have to come on the berth, and after the registration at the marina, i call the customers for the stamp.

Hope to see you soon.

I assume he meant ‘customs’ and not ‘customers’.

Checking in and out of France has become a bit "regional" and local as some directorates have taken a more or less flexible approach. Brittany you need to only use ports of entry. The Cruising Association has continued to document this and try to gain more flexibility.

Surely, no in or out stamp means you’ve not been to the Schengen area. A win. An in stamp but no out stamp would be much more problematic.

But I will have been there. Having once inadvertently sailed to France without a passport and having not discovered that until about to make the return journey by air, I’d quite like to do it all as properly as I can!
