I knew there would be a chop out on the Solent as soon as i headed up river toward Shamrock Quay to see the boats off, but i didnt expect it to be as rough as it was
I got the lad to put the bow cover back on (17' Maxum for those unsure) and headed up toward the hamble against the wind. Very busy out there, sailing schools seemed to be running flat out in speed and popularity!
Had a play for a couple of hours between Weston shore and Hythe seeing how the boat handled and it was fine, took on no water and im sure it could have taken a bigger chop but the comfort was well out of the window for any long trip.
Not sure what the sea state was like off Calshot, but as i had 'er indoors' with me i kept things as smooth as possible. Heading back with the wind was the most fun, riding some very large swell but with the wind it was smooth landings with a load of spray
Total contrast to being out yesterday, couldt take any pics as i didnt want to get the iphone wet
Anyone else out there today that got any pics or video??
PS I know its a small boat, but i could really use a windscreen wiper, all i get to see is a screen of caked on salt unless i sit on the back of the seat and look over (which i do most of the time) but need a break from the wind noise every now and then.
