Hi All,
I’m looking at the possibility of mooring my 21tf fixed keel jaguar as close to sittingbourne as possible. I’m currently in Hoo but have recently moved.
I tried Queenborough but they only have swinging at £800 a year, all the half tide are taken.
The problem I had at Hoo was accessibility to boat. Was looking for something like Queenborough with the all tide landing or similar
All suggestions are welcomed

How about Swale marina? Only issue is that it dries completely so I guess with your draft, access is only going to be at H.W http://www.swalemarina.co.uk/
There is also a small marina in Oare, no power though and when I last enquired they were full with a waiting list.
The Medway is probably your best bet for pontoon mooring, it's only a 23-30 minute drive from Sittingbourne. Possibly Thunderbolt? http://msba.org.uk/?page_id=395 otherwise you have Chatham and Gillingham marinas, but they are expensive in my opinion, everything being relative!

You could look at Medway Cruising Club at Gillingham.

We have not had 24hour access for a couple of years due to mud accumulation at the bottom of the Commodore's Hard but the club has recently had it dredged with the help of Medway Council and we should get a couple of years of 24 hour access now.

Friendly 'Do it yourself' club with room for new members. Strong cruising and racing groups. The bar is only open on a regular basis on a Sunday lunchtime or for functions but the tea room operates all day. Club house on the Strand and winter lay up at the Anchorage 300 metres east.
Biggest problem is the jet skiers who insist on exceeding 6 knots amongst the moorings.

I second John's recommendation of the Medway Cruising Club.

I'm a relative newbie there at 3 years membership and I'm very pleased I joined. It's very sociable, has great facilities and is fantastic value too.

Charl, there are several Medway clubs with all tide access to moorings. Even at Hoo Ness you can row out from the second dinghy Park near Wilsonians at low tide. All the clubs are listed on MSBA.org.uk

Being only a small yacht, it should be easy to lower the mast on the water. Then you can shoot Rochester bridge and use the cheaper pontoon berths up river. I know of one 27ft yacht that moors up river for this reason. In the past Thames barges did this regularly, so what is stopping you.

Can't see whats wrong with Queenborough. Is £800 with a good all tide place to launch/store tender and pick up, and the availablity of the launch at peak times and proximity to Sittingnourne such a bad deal ?

Might suggest the Gillingham Marina half tide pontoon moorings reasonable cost but allowing Marina facilities plus local supermarket facilities . I had a deep keep keel 24ft yacht there years ago it always dried out upright plus the Marina used to have deep water swinging buoys to lie to when required . Sittingbourne in a quick M2 away from the Marina. A plus plus is that there is plenty of deep water sailing immediately after clearing the Marina berths that would suit your deep keep craft .
