possible Fairline bargain?

Same reason a 1991 Lotus Carlton with 74k on the clock is going for £40k or one with 4500 miles is asking £124k.......British classics :):):)
Can't agree with your comparison.
When talking of boats, "classic" is just a term that people tend to prefer (for obvious reasons) to the more correct one, i.e. "old money pit".
There a few exceptions like the Riva Aquarama, but they are just exceptions - and even those, are VERY far from what I would rate as investment grade...

Didn’t imagine you would agree!

I was saying it a bit tongue in cheek. The Fairlines and Princesses from that era have a strong following and with good reason. The ad says open to offers. That is a lot of boat considering purchase price could start with a 3 no doubt. I sold my 1988 Fairline sedan 36, 6 months ago. The new owner collected and did 500 miles in 10 days at 20 knots and she never misssed a beat. Old doesn’t always mean knackered just as newer doesn’t always mean reliable or well built!

You are alone :D

You're going to have to help me out here. What has a (comparatively) high vs low mileage classic car got to do with a Fairline 43 Sedan?

Not sure I can. Made sense to me when I typed it. I wasn’t comparing the 2 cars....just that their value seems unjustified but people are prepared to pay. Same with certain makes / models of older boats hence the 43 looks cheap imho.

There was a very tidy 388 for sale at Medway Bridge for a long time Fred, we looked at it a couple of times, saw it at Chatham a little while ago.

Club member Ian, had his eye on it , as did we, shows how long it was up for sale.
Started out with the usual silly "This is what they are going for price " virtually £80K ? before it began the long slide down.
It is now in Gillingham, offer of £55k was made, this was declined, finally sold for little above that.
Chap who made the offer, lives in houseboat up near you, bought a T47 in the end.
