I ventured out on Sunday after changing the depth transducer. All good so turned right when I got to the war memorial. Scared myself to death as we were showing 2.2m for a while. Not a lot when there's a swell running. Is this normal at LW? I have to confess I normally follow the transit so that I don't have to bother checking the tide!

Rob...not sure I understand the question! Were you following the usual transit or off it? Have you checked the chart which is showing soundings in that range...and it seemed to be a big tide so quite possible. Have you checked your offset etc?

Well I couldn't get to the chart on account of the amount of junk on the chart table. Tacking cleared the chart table but it was a bit late by then.

I followed the ferry back.

Mr Coote said 1m8 at MLWS back in 1990. So not really an anytide passage for a small boat.
