What do you get for £4.95?

Is it £2 for either lift? I understand there is a highspeed internal lift and an external glass lift.

I guess there are no stairs so the £2 is effectively the charge for visiting the viewing platforms.

For comparision the London Eye costs from £12.50

I'm sticking up for the spinnaker tower - I think it looks great now it's done. Granted I didn't pay for it (cos I don't live in Portsmouth) but nonetheless I applaud the whole scheme.

There must be some stairs - the fire regs would demand it - but I suspect that using them could demonstrate that you are not quite as fit as you thought!

Thats just the price of a couple of pints - what did you expect it to cost to get in?
Portsmouth is already a great day out, there is so much to do, what with the dockyard, old Portsmouth and the shops & restaurants at Gunwharf Quays. The tower can only add to the attraction of the place. I think it looks great and cannot wait to go up to the top

I knew someone would tell me there would have to be stairs as a fire exit. I was speculating that climbing the stairs was not a low cost option.

I have no illusions about my fitness, or lack of, but a few years ago it would not have been a problem.

The Eiffel Tower BTW costs €10.70. I reckon that's good value!

I will use the spinnaker tower every time I go sailing and it won't cost me a penny, especially if I mark it on my old charts instead of buying a new one with it on as a Landmark. Its nice to have something more visible than the old forts to use between Chichester and Gilkicker should the need arise, it and Fawley make a good pair!

Not sure when I'll get around to climbing it, though if you look at other prices, e.g. NT and English Heritage, £7 sounds par for the course. I was at Corfe Castle last w/e and it cost £5 to get in, even though it was raining and it closed an hour after we arrived.
