I suspect this event will come by the time I'm gone, but you might consider whether Hornet would welcome you? I've been to a couple of events there and the place doesn't suffer from grockles or the pink gin crowd.

Hornet's bar is only open at lunchtimes and Friday and Saturday evenings.

Me too, although I'd be interested in knowing of anywhere in Gosport to meet up which is half-decent apart from the Castle!

Fighting cocks clayhill road is worth a visit. New team have improved it. Dogs and family's welcome. Big garden for better weather. It is 25mins walk from Haslar marina.

Plus 1 for meet yes lightship seems much improved provided you can find a table and yes not only non bertholders but also non sailers seem to frequent

+1....I love the Lightship/Trinitys now under new owners, and the food is good and plentiful. Fab views out over the harbour and spinnaker tower/Gunwarf quays. Non members can use Trinitys if they provide their name in advance so they can get through the gate to the pontoons.

I'm off in that direction as well .. albeit on a low-loader! Given up saily boats now so off to the S of F with a mobo, South West end and will have to get a berth somewhere, probably buy one if prices are sensible ... some places much cheaper than others! Where are you going?

IIRC the majority seemed to come from Gossie so drinking is a no no if that far away. Nice date though.

Yes sorry but agree with Doris. Would need to be walking (or on a bad night, staggering or trolley ride) distance for me, so Gosport side.

Gosport side (or somewhere near the harbour ferry in Portsmouth) would be my preference, i am not taking up my berth at Haslar until the first weekend in June so the May date wouldn't be possible.
