Absolutely superb performance from the Red Arrows against a stunning sky. We were standing in the Falkland Gardens in Gosport and got a superb view. Simply breathtaking!
I was also in Falkland gardens - magnificent display by the arrows. Closures up past the gosport ferry evident yesterday and today to allow for the air displays evident yesterday and today - I suspect the weekend will be the same.
Red Arrows went straight passed the office window at low level heading south to start the Display, had a fantastic view of all the clever stuff...no camera with me though, although I took some during the display at Goodwood a couple of weeks back.
Fantastic!
Some years ago, when a group of about 5 boats together had just left the harbour, a Red Arrows display started. No water born activity near us, so we just stopped and drifted, and the Red Arrows I'm convinced, must have decided to use us a reference point off the shore, as everything they did was co-ordinated directly overhead of us. Fantastic viewpoint.
We all got whiplash .... they were coming in so fast and low we really didn't know which way to look.
As it's you Brendan, why did my pics come out different sizes? I set them up for message board and they are all 160x106 .... I bulk uploaded but some are 'too big'' for the forum.
We lay on our backs when the overhead action was going on, as the only real way to see it all.
All your pics are the same size 159x106 pixels, and I've looked at all 10 of these pics in your album, and they are the same size. Have you deleted any? or is it these 10 pics you are talking about. It could be they look bigger or smaller on your computer, as you still have the original pictures cached on your computer.
No, they are all the same size here - on the forum, and on photobucket. I suspect you are seeing images that have been cached on your computer, from the original pics you downloaded from your camera. Hit function key F5 to update, and see if that makes a difference, or clear out your cache on your browser.
Edit - seen your edit. It was the cached versions of the pics that were still showing as original size.
Thanks ....did seem odd but all ok now ..... don't like to use your knowledge/help on trivia ....I've a broadband/wifi question lurking .... another post.... another day

It's not trivia. This sort of thing will occur for many people, and if they don't know why, it will puzzle them. Much easier to ask why, so others can learn.
Just don't ask too many very technical questions on a Friday night when I like to have a few drinks! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
That's a real shame. I was going to ask whether or not you have an alternative thought on scripting languages being a type of programming language designed to control other software or to coordinate the actions of multiple software applications. They are usually distinguished from "full" programming languages in that they are dependent on another application, are more accessible to users, include fewer features, and are not compiled but run via an interpreter. In practice, some languages originally conceived for scripting (PHP) have grown to be become "full" programming languages and some "full" programming languages have been adapted for embedding into applications (Java). Common examples include Perl and JavaScript. (scripting language list). Originally, scripting languages described the command set of shells with a command line interpreter. In this type of interpreter, commands can be entered either interactively or as shell scripts and batch scripts. Some modern scripting language interpreters (such as Python) preserve the interactive mode, but most do not.
Yes, they make it much easier for people who are not full on programmers. Many large applications contain scripting to make it easier for end users to access data etc /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
OK, in simple terms. You load pics from your camera to your computer. You uplodad pics from computer to photobucket. You post pics on forum.
Your computer sees the original full size pics you put on computer from camera, rather than reduced size ones on photobucket, as it still sees original pics, now photobucket ones. While everyone else viewing will see new size photobucket ones
Same reason that people post pics that show as red crosses, as the site will not allow linking to forums. The poster is still seeing the picture fine, while everyone else sees a red cross, and they become very confused as to why different people see different results.
Changing the subject a bit. Pics can often be made to look better with a bit of adjustment to the brightness and contrast etc. A digital camera in its auto mode makes a pretty poor job of scenes that are nearly all sky, ( with same thing auto film cameras and the automation at processing labs for that matter).
Just with the editting now available on P'bucket it is possible to make some dramatic changes, and you can do it after uploading!
Dunno what you think, not trying to be clever but I have had a fiddle with a couple of Bav 34's pictures
We were sat on the outer perimeter pontoon at Gosport Marina.
Absolutely Amazing. Felt too close for comfort when they were doing the low level stuff though.
Did anyone here the Radio2 interview with Chris Evans and someone from the Red Arrows of a few weeks back? Apparantly you can buy a 25 minute display for £9000. Yes that is a load of money but it still seems cheap considering what you get....
