Porto Montengro home base for sailing Croatia

Is it, really, B?
During all the years which we spent cruising HR, we never went further S than Dubrovnik, so I don't have any first hand experience, but that's also because all boaters we met who went there told us that the Montenegro coast is nowhere near the Croatian one: no islands and very few sheltered bays for overnighting.
Which are exactly the nicest things of the Croatian coast, imho....
....but you're now make me wondering if we missed something! :)
AFAIK, the Bay of Kotor itself is stunning but I have heard also that the stretch of coastline north from there to Cavtat is not very interesting but it's not far I guess (20nm?). Of course you can also go south from PM to Corfu and the Ionian although it is further of course

then you have missed Cavtat, what a shame,
its no coincedence that this was elected as the nicest village of Croatia last season, :)

Montenegro is nowhere near as vaste and beautifull like Croatia,
but nevertheless nice and interesting,

the area around Molunat is nice and has a few cheltered bay's,
this is actually the most southern village of Croatia, but its south of Cavtat, so before customs passage

the bay of Kotor on its own is worth discovering,
this bay and all Montenegro coastline, is surrounded with high mountains, 2000m+

have a look here

Kotor old town is similar like Dubrovnik but smaller

further south you have Budva, is a known place for going out and night live,
and a bit further Sveti Stefan with its nice beaches,
compare with Primosten, but more pitoresc

never been more south, so no experience,
but anyway its not my plan to spend much time in that area,
perhaps maybe for the diving, because this arrea is not yet spoiled,
and there still is a issue about private diving in Croatia,
but I'm working on that

that's correct, its a high steep rock wall all the way from Cavtat to Molunat, a bit less then 20 nm.
there are just a few very small private (FKK?) beaches along that stretch

to answer MapisM question in the other thread, and those who are interested,
we have decided to move Blue Angel to Montenegro for at least one season,

plan is to sail BA to Rome with our family at easter, (beginning may)
have a few small jobs done there,
and then after a month or so, in june, sail the other 2/3 of the trip.
all dependant on the weather of course.
the total distance is about 1000nm.

at the end of the 2014 summer season we will decide what to do next.

Aha. So, no chance to see BA in Sardinia, I suppose?
From Toulon, it could have made sense to come to S Sardinia and point to Messina strait from there, but if you want to go to Rome, the deviation would be quite substantial...

for many reasons, the plan now is to go to PM as direct as possible, (I'll explain later)
but then,
I have in mind to make a future plan to travel a complete summer season exploring Sicily, Amalfi coast, sardinia, ...and Malta ?
we need to have dreams P, keeps us awake :D

If all goes to plan, we might be doing a similar trip ourselves from La Spezia to Porto Montenegro in May/June so maybe we can meet up somewhere? I'm also thinking about spending the summer in PM and then going back to Croatia at some stage

do you trade-in the F53 ?

when you overtake me near Rome, I'm afraid that you will disappear within seconds at high speed with your 500HP more powerfull, but 20 ton lighter new speed machine :D

I'll keep you updated with our plans...
If you need info from PM, new price lists, ... let me know.

Ha, ha, I still won't have got over the shock to my wallet of feeding 24 cylinders with diesel by then so my guess is we'll be doing most of the trip at 11kts. Will there be any problem getting a berth at PM?

Will there be any problem getting a berth at PM?

last week the guy told me that I should not wait too long with my reservation, and that I only have to pay 10% now
two day's later he confirmed that the BIG expansion of the marine is on scedule to be ready for the new season.
(new bigger fuel pontoon an many more berths,)

but then his jobtitle is "commercial" ;-)

Ill probably only reserve for June and september, as the best part of July and august I've planned to be out in Croatia.
from October have to decide if we stay there all winter or not.
I'll let you know if I face any bumps while triing to make a reservation.
