Porto Cristo Mallorca

Don't know it massively well but have been based in Cala D'or (15 or so miles down the coast) for many years. Of all of the Mallorcan coasts I think the east coast has the greatest concentration of pretty, quiet and accessible anchorages and quite a few safe havens in the event of strong-ish easterly winds - Porto Colom, Porto Petro, various little bays at the entrance to Cala D'or and quite a few other smaller anchorages which require a stern line to rocks depending on your size. The downside is that the east coast can be a bit windier than the others so occasionally the anchorages (other than those listed above) can end up with a bit of swell. Plus, PC is quite a long way from the airport - over an hour I would guess.

Agree that it's not the easiest of places to get to from the airport but a nice little place. To be honest it's pretty dead even in the season as most off the tourists are only there to go to the caves and most have gone by about 7 in the evening, there is a river which runs through the moorings into the sea be interesting to know how it affects growth on boats berthed there

Apologies for the delay in responding, would you be willing to pass on your mates contact details in Cristo. Keen for a chat and some more questions.

Some of the smaller ports do stay open all year simply because the locals actually live there. It is usually the larger ports where a leisure marina of some description is the main berth provider, that most of the bars and resturants surrounding the marina, close, due to most bertholders being tucked up at home in Munchen or Moscow for the chilly months.
