Portland stop over

I haven't been to Darthaven by boat for many years but I had a feeling the new layout of visitors pontoon was alongside berthing with potential rafting. Do they still put visitors in spare finger berths?

Richard, thanks for heads up, so I would request finger or go Darthaven which is where I had planned.. facilities also important for SWMBO

We have just left this morning , Dart nav channel 11 as previous post inside town jetty by the ferries , you can moor on outside after 5pm but have to move 8.45am, they also let you use permanent birth holders mooring , not walk ashore ,water available no electric, you will need rib or similar to get ashore or water taxi, Dart Haven Marine starboard as you come in past yacht club, visitors moorings were rafting but could have changed now, they were also using vacate berth holders moorings,

+1 Portland Marina , very easy stop over, if you want to visit Weymouth bus stops outside .

forgive ignorance but what is Greenways?

Greenaways - Agatha Christie's House, opposite Dittisham. Your good lady might struggle up the hill, its not far, but is steep. Its National Trust, house, gardens, cafe, grounds, lovely veg garden. You can sit on Agatha's bog upstairs.

Hang a moment though, Longpants suggesting the pax ferry from Kingswier to Dartmouth, surely EVERYBODY gets the lower ferry to listen to the Tug engine?

The best pub there is ferry boat at Dittisham, no hill to get there, not sure what's Greenway side of river

Ha, I've got tickets for both ferries.........

Worth a call to dart marina. Just above higher ferry... I know they take visitors but only a few one or two in spare berths. I guess you need to ring not just turn up. Never been in the marina but watch them come and go from our rental apartment. Say your wife has mobility problems may swing it. In my view the best marina.

Dart haven visitors is normally alongside and rafting. Unless your lucky in the marina.

My only experience with Torquay and Brixham gave me the impression they didn't want freedom berth holders during peak season, however, I was told that if you just booked online they were obliged to find you a space. Maybe a word with the Mercury guys?
