Portishead

Quiet update on the parking. The gravel car park is now completely fenced off (with someones car trapped in it). Went up to get update from marina staff. The marina are not putting up any sort of barrier and will not stop anyone else parking there. They have suggested they may send staff out there on busy weekends but will play it by ear. They have indicated that there are two car parking slots for each boat. Don't know if I agree with that logic but hey ho. A little disappointed. :-(

Berth holders have been provided with two passes. That doesn't mean there are actually two parking spaces per berth. At the moment the passes are being used for research; counting cars with and without passes at various times of the day and day of the week. Hopefully, berth holders will all use their passes to enable the marina to gather meaningful data.

I assume this means that IF the car park gets full and IF they are finding many cars without passes, they will apply some sort of restrictions. I expect to find a lifting barrier and proper berth holder passes next year.

I'm not aware of how many passes that have been issued, mine didn't arrive. They told me in the office that they had calculated that there were two slots available per berth holder. I don't think that's right? As you say we will just need to see what happens and as Mike has already mentioned we can't complain until there is an issue. I don't know why they have decided not to put a barrier up, it may be linked to allowing the car park to be used by folk (customers and residents) when the new building is finished?
