I had a great sail to Cardiff yesterday (12 July) On my friends Nicholson 35.

Sailing to windward all the way, rewarded by fish and chips in Harry's and a great reach back..

Yes it's not a shining example Mermaid Quay cuisine. You need to have a word with your mate and get him to take you to a better quality establishment next time :-)

What happened to the Holms practice ? I saw you go past our place and thought you might get to the Holms a bit too early .............. so did you change the plan ?
I've seen Martin eat ............ you couldn't afford to take him to a classy establishment !

Their are some superb restaurants at Mermaid Quay but we only had about an hour to grab some nosh. So we went for no fuss and cheerful.

Having said that the fish was superb and I easily rose to their Jumbo challenge.

We decided to start our campaign by doing all the, Not to do things on the Holms race, just to get them out of the way.

However! For a small beer I might consider passing on a few tips, learnt from our first practise run..Lol!! ;)

Things like the Monkstone lighthouse is a hoax, there are no rocks there and there is plenty of water over the middle grounds, even on a dropping spring..

Bye the way!! I thought Harry's was classy, good old Yorkshire chippy.. Allegedly!!:p

Glad someone had a good nosh there, ours was rubbish. Swmbo originates yorkyshire and was disappointed. Maybe having an off day. If we are doing cheap at MQ Eli Jenkins is the one.

I know Harry has had some bad press in the states, he hosted the "F word" and swears a lot but I thought he was generally quite reveired as a chef..

Maybe hitting hard times!!:D

Fish Harry's was only a mediocre chippy when they had but one branch in Guiseley. Their only real noteability came from being a pretty big chippy. Didn't use them very much when I were but a lad in Bradford.

If you want good fresh food (no chips tho)give The Lightship a try,she is floating in the Roath basin a stones throw from mermaid key, only open between 10 and 4.30 though.
