I've taken the old portholes out of my 2mm topsided steel boat and I m trying to find replacements. They have done great service for nearly forty years with not a leak(if closed) but they have suffered with rust from the hull and need replacing. Leafing through magazines there are some good looking portholes on new boats but where do they come from? The only 100mm portholes I can find are too deep and have two securing screws. I'm after two 100mm glass and a bigger one(150-200mm glass) that would preferably shut as level as possible with the exterior. Any recommendations?
For wags - I'm not after the hole, but the glass and frame!

Thanks

You could try a call to the Chandlery Barge at Bursledon(02380 406349) or www.chandlerybarge.co.uk who have loads of vintage and modern stuff like this there. Alternatively Trafalgar Yachts Chandlery in Fareham(01329822445) deal with Westerly bits, and the forward ports on Centaurs and Tigers are of the diameters you mention and almost flush on the outside, they had square shaped ones too on the Pageants.

Plus One for the Chandlery Barge, last time I went down into their hold I had to climb over a huge unstable pile of old portholes. Not sure how buying over the phone would work, you really need to go and poke around their stacks in the bowels of the old concrete barge, but it's worth a try.

Thanks for the responses. I went for the Vetus portholes in the end. They're a bit 'modern' with smoked acryllic instead of glass but the polished stainless frame looks good and they don't weigh much. A bit cheeky of vetus not to supply bolts or the 'optional' mosquito nets - why wouldn't you want any?
Not many manufacturers of shallow old style single screw closing portholes, at least none making the size I'm after - 100mm glass. If they keep the water out the vetus will be fine.
