The good news is that the £3.2m project gets underway with an exhibition of the plans starting Mon. 6th. August. Public can view the project on certain days at the harbourside and marks the start of the 9 month marina project.
Renovation includes: new lock gate with pedestrian foot bridge; extension to eastern breakwater; engineering work to harbour walls and a new pontoon system. There will be 70 berths with visitor moorings. Plus the harbour master will have his building renovated.
Good news for the Bristol Channel.
Anything happening regarding a marina at Barry?

Great news, this will provide a much needed facility and key link in the chain to enable tours of the Bristol Channel. Well done Porth Cawl, well over due.

I had a look at the plans today. Nothing too grand - pontoons, lock gate with foot bridge, eastern breakwater only extended by about 25 m. entrance probably the same width. It is expected to hold 70 permanent berths and 6 to 8 visitor moorings. I did suggest to the building consultants that a toilet and shower block would be a good idea. I had the feeling this was not on the original agenda. However, they did agree it was a good idea and will look into it.
Tip; make sure you go before visiting the marina.
Work should begin in September and is expected to be completed by next May.
Fairwinds,
Lancelot.
