Porth Dinorwick mooring.....Philiz/Kwacka?

Thanks Steve, so is anchoring ok at. Rowen bay? Looks like an option .....how far to walk to,the pub etc? (Priorities!)
If I nipped up in the car to check it out, is the a "favourite spot!"

Cheers

Mark

There are free (& spare) CHT moorings at Rowen, I wouldn't dream of anchoring there. VERY sheltered due to a small eddy off the tide.

Abermenai is lovely, but we've seen many anchors drag there on spring tides. No boozers anywhere near!

I've not dragged there (yet) I think there is a strip of hard clay where anchors tend to slide rather than dig in. Stay in the channel if you can & use plenty of scope & you will generally lie to just the weight of chain. Nice cockles there at low water, but no pubs or even many people other than boaters & fishermen. Visit the Caernarfon Harbour Trust web site for excellent chartlets & pilot notes for the bar & Swellies. Llandwyn Island is a lovely spot to wait for a favourable tide. 2hrs before HW Liverpool is the simple mnemonic for slack at the Swellies.

Thanks all
Subject to weather, see you in August

Aber Menai looks a nice spot, any boozers close by?
More often than not there is a large congregation of Boozers here.

It would seem a good idea at this point to promote the idea of a proper Barbie and Bonfire being lit during your stay. Southerly winds required. If northerly then an alternative venue at nearby Pilots Cove would be used.

The late night Aber Menai Moonlight Deck dance on tide turn is all part of the experience. Some on here have even had a lifeboat come to join in the party!

Is your planned visit part of the Clwb Hwylio cruising programme? or just a lone escape bid from Pulleywilley?

Hi Steve
The trip to PorthDillaen on the 24th is a proposed clwb hwylio cruise, and I was going to suggest poking our noses into the straits on the 25th if the weather was settled, though not suggest this until nearer the time
However I could suggest a three day trip and take in a night in the straits at this early stage.

Anyway if the weather is ok, we would definately be up for a BBQ on Monday bank holiday at a venue to be decided! I and sure a few Pwhlelli boat as will join me

Cheers
