After seeing and hearing other boaters using very quiet portable generators am seriously considering buying one as a backup for batteries.
Never really needed one, but running A/C kit through an inverter means we have to be careful.
Anyone with any recommendations ?

That’s what we have on our boat. We only really use it when on our two week holiday on the days we’re we do a short daily trip of 2 hours or less. To be honest though we hardly used it much last year, and this year it didn’t come out once.

But if you wire it in correctly you’ll not need to be careful with your leisure batteries again ;)

No flaf of getting the genny out, will it start, have you fuel....a battery is always there ready to go
Actually going on your maths, get two batteries

Without wishing to sound too much like a miserable old sod, you may think it's quiet, sure they're quieter than the older ones, but they're still a bloody menace and they ruin a tranquil mooring for everybody else. Sort your charging system, load, kit and batteries out and you won't need one
