Portable generator question

Whilst in USA a few years ago I came across a feller who had watched his genny burst into flames on the foredeck, whilst he was ashore having dinner. I asked around and found its not an isolated incident (something about a leaky fuel line) , and after that I always ran it on the boat under my watchfull eye , or in the dingy when I couldn't.
Better be safe than sorry !

I have read through all the above post's and basicaly as a full time live aboard my advice to you is; Do get the larger of the two, believe me it is so much quieter and smoother. Yes it is a tad heavier but well worth it. Now what is this all about using LPG?? We use petrol and it has never been a problem to store it over winter whilst in the marina.

Good luck

Peter

I'm a liveaboard and own and use a Honda EU20i too, its never missed a beat, i had a kipor before, but the inverter section died after only 6 months of ownership and the warranty wasnt worth the paper it was written on, so i spent the extra (a lot extra!) to buy the Honda instead and its performed faultlessly, it does have a proper 2kw output, i can run a 2.1kw impact drill on it, and it also runs a 2kw fan heater perfectly too, although it does recommend 1600w max, but it will happily power over 2kw when needed on the hare setting
